How to Edit a PDF on Your Phone: Text, Signatures and Images

Choose the edit you actually need

Adding a missing name, replacing a typo and rewriting an entire agreement are different tasks. Start by identifying which one you need. If you only need to complete a document, adding text or a signature may be enough. If you need to change existing wording, choose Replace text. If you are drafting a long document, editing its original Word file and exporting a fresh PDF is usually easier than changing individual lines.

Keep the original PDF before making changes. This gives you a reference for checking page order, layout and wording. Only edit documents you have permission to change. For an agreed document, confirm that the other parties expect a revised version before changing its contents. The editor changes the visible file; it does not establish agreement to the new wording.

Open and check your PDF

  1. Open Edit PDF on the Go.
  2. Choose a PDF from your device or drop one into the upload pane.
  3. Check the selected-file card for the correct filename and file size.
  4. Tap its thumbnail to inspect the first page in a larger preview.
  5. Use Previous and Next to reach the page you want to edit.

The selected-file thumbnail represents your input file. The document canvas shows your current edits. Use the canvas when checking changes, rather than expecting the original-file thumbnail to update after every edit. Processing and previews run on your device, without sending the document to an AI service.

Replace existing horizontal text

Choose Replace text, then tap a supported text line on the page. The selected-text field displays the recognized PDF text. Change it and choose Apply text change. Review the result on the canvas before downloading.

This works with supported horizontal text that exists as text in the PDF. A scanned page contains pictures of letters, so it may not contain a selectable text line. Rotated lettering or unsupported character encodings may also require another approach. You can add text or an image, or use the original editable document instead. OCR can make scanned content searchable, but it does not automatically recreate a Word-style editing layout.

Replacing original text flattens the affected page. The remaining page content becomes an image, while replacement text is added to the new page. Other pages stay intact. This means other text on the flattened page is no longer searchable or selectable. Interactive features on that page may also be lost. Use the original source document when preserving those properties is essential.

Add and adjust content

Choose Text, enter the wording, set its size and color, then tap the page to place it. Draw / sign lets you draw a signature or mark directly on the document. Image accepts an image or signature file. Highlight and Rectangle add visual marks to the area you drag across.

To adjust an addition, choose Select / move and tap it. Drag to reposition it. For added text, change the selected-text field and apply the update. Delete selected item removes the addition. Undo last addition removes the most recent added item or replacement. Original-text replacements remain anchored to their source region; use Replace text to adjust their wording.

Download and verify the result

Choose Download edited PDF, save the result and open the saved file. Check every changed page at normal reading size. Confirm that text fits, signatures remain clear, additions do not cover important information and page order is correct. Inspect any fields, links or searchable text that matter to the recipient.

This editor is not a redaction tool. Do not use visual text replacement to guarantee that confidential information has been securely removed. Keep the original separately and send the edited copy only after reviewing it. If a document uses certificate-based signatures, editing may affect validation; follow the recipient's required workflow.

Common questions

Can I edit text in a scanned PDF?

Scanned letters are images. The replacement mode needs supported horizontal PDF text; add text or use the original editable file for a scan.

Will the whole PDF be flattened?

Only pages containing original-text replacements are flattened. Other pages keep their original content.

Can I move or delete a signature I added?

Yes. Select the added item with Select / move, then drag it or choose Delete selected item.
